3 dead in Venezuela after widespread outage leaves hospitals without power
By DAVI MERCHAN
Wednesday, October 17th, 2018
LONDON -- Three people, including a newborn, have died in Venezuela after an hours-long power outage in 16 states left hospitals with no power, a persistent problem in what is already a struggling nation.

The explosion of an electrical transformer in the interior of Venezuela left most of the country without power on Monday and Tuesday, Luis Motta Dominguez, the Minister of Electric Energy, said in a video on Instagram.

Power outages in Venezuela have become common, with Venezuelans experiencing days-long blackouts that limit the ability of health professionals to care for patients. Hospitals have also struggled with a lack of medical supplies and medicine to treat those who enter their doors.

Outages are widespread and include many different states.

The article also reads:

"In a 2018 survey conducted by three leading universities in Venezuela, 6 out of every 10 Venezuelans reported an average weight loss of 11 kilograms (24 pounds) over the last year. Nine out of 10 Venezuelans are unable to afford food for daily consumption, according to the survey."

#MaduroCrimeFamily stole all the money they should have invested in maintaining the power grid. Now #Venezuela is on its 14th hour of a nationwide blackout.

God help the babies in incubators & dialysis patients & others for whom this is life threatening.

It sounds like a thing like a massive blackout will be hard to fix:

Just one week ago the electric workers union warned that #Venezuela hydroelectric dam would not be able to handle a blackout. #maduroregime stole all the money which should have been used for maintenance and repairs.

Hard to fix, aside from Rubio saying this is owed from the ruling family pillaging the treasury. This is probably so, perhaps I don't know if it is totally so.   Rubio does a superb job explaining the whole situation, especially in the first 10 minutes hear in a hearing conducted this past week.  He may interject a few personal comments here and there but I'm sure what he says is overwhelmingly correct.  On top, for the most part, of the predicament in Latin America and more specifically, Venezuela:

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

We know a lot of what he says but it's the way the information is synthesized, summarized. A good explanation of where we stand.

One bit of analysis I saw said causing blackouts is often a tactic that dictators will use.

One of the power stations on fire per the below tweet, 95% of the country is without power but the kicker is below, I found an article in Spanish backing this story up or I would not have posted. This is very ominous. Drudge also has the power outage in Venezuela as their main story currently.

Denuncian muerte de jefe de Corpoelec Guayana durante presunto motín tras detención del Sebin

You can read that both sources speak of CORPOELEC (Corpoelec) and Guyana.  "Death of head of Corpoelec Guayana denounced during alleged mutiny after arrest of Sebin" Whooah, a mutiny, this is all pretty dynamic...

The place is having a power outage, an executive of an electric company dies in custody. WTH? This looks pretty bad and almost the kind of stuff that really increases hostilities if true.   The electric company is from Guyana or something, the neighboring country. So, maybe some additional detail in that.

News flash has executive Angel Dries, the Spanish language story has Angel Sequea, I'm still sorting this stuff. Sounds like the same person. Sounds like he's dead from being in custody of the SEBIN, which appears to be the Venezuelan intelligence.
