Michael Cohen to testify three times next week after repeated delays

Michael Cohen has a busy week ahead.

President Trump’s former longtime lawyer and fixer will testify behind closed doors to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.

It’s one of three congressional appearances he’s slated for in the next several days.

On Wednesday, Cohen will publicly testify before the House Oversight Committee. The next day, he’s set to privately appear before the House Intelligence Committee.

Cohen was scheduled to appear before the Senate committee on Feb. 12 but postponed, citing a shoulder surgery.

He had planned to testify the House Intelligence Committee on Feb. 8, but that was pushed back until Feb. 28. The delay was the second instance in which a date had been scrapped.

A third hearing with the House Oversight Committee was originally planned for early February but was postponed last month due to “ongoing threats” by Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Cohen pleaded guilty in December to making illegal campaign contributions, lying to Congress, and bank fraud.

He was expected to report for his three-year prison sentence March 6, but on Wednesday a judge pushed the date back to May 6. Cohen’s lawyer Michael Monico wrote a letter to a federal judge asking for the 60-day reprieve so that his client could recover from surgery and testify to Congress.
