Hong Kong authorities bust record $8 million worth of ivory tusks, pangolin scales
By Joshua Berlinger, CNN

Authorities in Hong Kong seized $8 million worth of smuggled endangered species parts in one of the biggest busts the city has ever recorded.

Hong Kong's customs department announced that in a joint raid with their mainland counterparts, police seized 8,300 kilograms (18,300 pounds) of suspected pangolin scales and 2,100 kilograms (4,600 pounds) of suspected ivory tusks from a 40-foot container ship that was supposed to be transporting frozen beef from Nigeria.

Hong Kong customs said it was the largest single amount of pangolin scales ever recorded in a bust.

Excellent!

This poaching s##t under Marxist African Govts has driven the price of a pair of Lousy, legally sport hunted 50lb - 55lb elephant tusks up over $100,000.

Keep busting them. Blockade the demand and you'll dry up the supply.

For the sake of reference the biggest pair of elephant tusks we know of were picked up on Mt Kilimanjaro over 100 years ago.

They originally weighed over 200lbs each but have dropped a bit due to drying out.

They're thought to belong to a 'phunt that was shot by an Arab with an old muzzle loader, but got away from him and fled quite a ways before dying.
