Well...when the Dems have gone bat-shit crazy left and the Repubs have also shifted left...it would stand to reason that the new center would also be further left

I thought that the DEMS already went bat-shit cray left and the GOP already shifted left as well.n :shrug:
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Actually, with each 'new normal', the Dems have again pushed the realm of 'batsh*t' crazy to new extremes. Predictably, and to my perpetual chagrin, the GOP has followed the shift to the Left, pursuing votes they will never get.

In the meantime, Conservatives, people who operate on principle, watch the elephant fading into the distance because our stance just hasn't changed on the issues. To borrow a phrase from a Muslim I knew, "It is written." The meaning of the Constitution, that original intent hasn't changed. The wording of scripture, although often mangled by "reader friendly editions in modern language" hasn't changed (beware those modern language versions which often make semantic alterations).  For the most part, Conservatives draw their principles from these documents and the philosophy they convey. Those milestones in human development aren't shifting, they are set on bedrock, and form the foundations of this Republic.

But the Parties have been ever pursuing the mass of dumbed-down socialist voters, and the Dems have been intent on importing more, and those writing the school curriculum are just about using the Communist Manifesto for a civics book at this point.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I know I'll catch hell for this but I'm going to say it anyway.

I have yet to vote for Trump and fought like hell to prevent his nomination but his performance to date has made me regret both. He has surprised me on just about every front possible and I doubt a person alive could have done any better than he has given the forces arrayed against him.  Flame suit on!

@DB
Everything is ok.

I can even forgive libs if I feel they are coming from a truly patriotic viewpoint.  I know you act that way(patriotic, not liberal).

Always admired Joe Lieberman in spite of his impeccable liberal credentials cause he was a true patriot.

Thanks @roamer_1!  I can't think of a soul I'd rather have as a neighbor!   :beer:

I watched a different show...more of a tragic comedy than triumph.

For what?  A true believer needs no proof, and a true skeptic accepts none.  You've offered no false witness.  You believe President Trump is a good guy.  I think he is not.  I don't fault you for believing that what I perceive as minimal scraps of a taxcut and some judges are actually the best America can hope for.  You may be right.  Squirm the dream my friend.

@Once-Ler

!. I do not believe president Trump to be any different today than he was when I was trying my best to prevent his nomination! The difference is that he IS the president now!

2. If you and the rest of the establishment, mainly in Washington, could give up trying to tear the man down at every turn (read stabbing him in the back) perhaps more than mear scraps might just appear on the horizon.

That's not how Washington has ever worked before but, ok.

That's my basic take, too. I'll only fight the things I disagree with. There is just no sense in fighting against things I want to see happen because of who is doing what.
