I don't know about orchids, but we can wear sandals through much of our winters.
Edited to add: no freaking socks though.
Ref. was to a greying pony-tail wearing landlord I had once. An over-grown hippy that wore sandals in the winter in Houston. He was a typical leftie.
When we started moving in, we discovered that the place was a disaster. We literally had to clean the house BEFORE we could move in (landlord was supposed to have had it cleaned before move-in date). I had to pay to get the fireplace checked out even though we were renting and shouldn't have had to pay. Good thing I did, cause the fireplace had spots where the firebreak was missing and any fire in it could have burned down the house with us in it. Landlord waited almost two years to bother to fix it....despite the fireplace having been one of the main reasons we chose to move in there. It was the typical result if/when you're dealing with someone that unethical, dishonest and... well... that leftist.
