Well.... I don't presume to speak for anyone else, let alone for the majority of Americans..... but...

I think the important thing is that Americans are informed about how well things are going, despite the lies, fakery, BS and ssdd propaganda to the contrary coming from the radical leftists.  Trump doesn't need applause.  He needs air-time.  He should just take it.

My understanding is that the State of the Union is to inform Congress of his opinion on the situation of the country and what he feels is need, it is not actually to address the American people, though it's been televised for quite some time.

That is why Pelosi wants to wait until after the shutdown, she knows full well he will make a case for the border wall and since its been televised in the past, she doesn't want his information to be conveyed.  Can she give a rebuttal to the state of the union??

IMHO he has made this a huge focus, and now people will be tuning into the state of the union, because of the controversy.  Score one for Trump.

Leave a copy of the address in an envelope on the ledge of the Speakers well in the House addressed to Pelosi and after that she can pound sand.

I am more encouraged than I have been since this began. As long as Trump doesn't turn his State of the Union speech into a campaign rally the Rats are going to come out losers and their support is going to waver. So far Trump has stayed in DC to be available to talk. Trump has made several proposals. The response from the Rats has been nothing. They won't even sit down and talk! I think Hoyer sees they are not winning and the public will turn on them.
