I'm not embarrassed, but I would be if I had represented the Right to Life in such a fashion.

Seeing this crowd in person was uplifting and reaffirming all day long and with no exceptions.

That you see it differently from where you sit really says more about you, I’m afraid.

Gosh I hope the throng of MAGA hatted teens were not to intimidated by a frail Indian drummer as they surrounded him, chanted, and laughed.  Judging from the goofy smirking face inches from the drummer I doubt it.  **nononono*

I wonder why it looks like intimidation to so many. :pondering:

You can clearly see from the first video (first post in this thread).... that the indian drummer walked into the crowd of MAGA hat-wearers.... and started drumming right in that kid's face and space.  So to comment "as they surrounded him" is a blatant effing lie.   That lie is on you.

That said, if you were peacefully demonstrating somewhere and some bleep came up to you and started chanting and drumming 'in your face' like that... what would you do?   I would probably start chanting something like "screw lefties" (lol) right back AT him in his face, but that's just me.

No I saw the same videos you did.  But when I see it I don't see a threatening Indian drummer who is menacing defenseless innocent Christian white boys.

You saw this video?

Really?   So what was it that was embarrassing to you.   The fact that the poor kid didn't know 'what' to do about the ahole invading his space by drumming and yelling/chanting in his space like that?   The kid is young.  He'll learn.

Funny how the idiot left always preaches 'against bullying'... but time and time again when we hear about stories like this.... it's always the idiot left doing the bullying.

The moment I saw the old guy was from the American Indian Movement, a decades-old racially motivated hate group… I knew I smelled a rat.

And, here's a story from The Spectator:

@Sanguine

That "veteran Indian" is usually identified as a "Viet Nam Indian Veteran",which is a crock of Clinton. SOB is 64 years old,which means he was too young to be sent to VN. I saw and heard him identified as a VN veteran on my teebee this morning,and he didn't deny it while standing in front of a camera and wiping tears from his eyes at the horror of it all.

SOB has a serious case of "meth mouth",too.

Maybe you should try looking at the innumerable videos and first-hand accounts published on the worldwide interweb, which show that drum guy was the provocateur in this incident and the kids did nothing wrong.

Anyone who doesn't like the one kid's "smirk," might consider how they would have responded when they were 16 if an older man had approached, started pounding a drum (with dozens of people standing behind him taking video) and then started railing, "You white people go back to Europe, this is not your land." The boy looks nervous to me.

@mountaineer

I would have punched his freaking lights out of he had stuck a drum in my face and started chanting "Movie Indian" nonsense when I was 16.

Hell,I might do it now. Being part Tuscarora,"professional victim Indians" really piss me off.

Flashback: Before Smearing and Harassing Catholic Children – Native American Nathan Phillips Accused Frat Boys of Harassment in Similar Event
by Jim Hoft January 20, 2019

Phillips, reportedly a Vietnam veteran, got up in one boy’s face and started screaming and beating his drum inches from the boy’s face.

@mystery-ak

Phillips is NOT a VN veteran. He is too young to have been sent to VN.

I have no doubt he has hundreds of war stories he can tell about it,though.

No I did not see that video, and it does indeed look like the indian was trying to start something...although it doesn't reveal if any words were exchanged before that.  That being said I concede the story doesn't look the way the MSM is portraying it.

Thank you for the video.

Rush to judgment? New details emerge on Native American elder's standoff with MAGA-hat-wearing teens
by Naomi Lim
 | January 20, 2019 03:51 PM

New details about a viral video that showed an interaction between white teenagers wearing "Make America Great Again" hats and a Native American elder are leading some people to second-guess their first impression of the encounter.

A student from Kentucky's all-male Covington Catholic High School drew backlash online after a clip emerged Saturday of him smiling and standing close to the face of Nathan Phillips, an Omaha elder and Vietnam War veteran, as Phillips sang and beat a drum near the Lincoln Memorial in downtown D.C. on Friday. Other young people standing close by can be seen chanting as they encircle Phillips.

Lawmakers, Native American leaders, and the Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School were quick to condemn the boy's behavior. The school announced it was investigating the situation and said the teen could be expelled.

But a longer video from a different angle shows that Philips was the one to approach the teenagers, taking a left on a landing along the stairway up the Lincoln Memorial and walking directly into the throng of students.

64 would mean, most likely born in 1954 or very early 1955... which means he turned 18 in 1972. We were still in 'Nam at the time (albeit not to the extent we were in the 60s) so it's not entirely out of the question.

Why the media have made such a big deal of this: 1) to pretend that the March of Life either didn't happen and didn't draw at least 10x the participants as the latest so-called women's march; and 2) to distract from the failure of the Buzzfeed story.

media made student story the big story from Right to Life march - to avoid impact of the march itself; meanwhile it provided more proof that where there's a Trump hat, hate follows. Bonus: media knew this story distracts from buzzfeed debacle. it worked on me!

I'm not challenging your knowledge @sneakypete so please don't take it that way. I was born in 1953 and most of the guys in my graduating class went to Nam. My husband (same age) was up for the draft when he was 18.

@berdie

He is 64. The US military pulled all combat troops but some Special Operations guys out of VN in March of 1973. This gomer is now 64,which means he was born in 1955,and was only 20 when the last conventional troops were pulled out in 1975. Which ALSO means he was only 14 years old in 1967,which,IIRC,is the year the US government stopped sending 17 year olds to VN,and only 18 when the US stopped sending combat troops to VN . By that time the few troops they were sending were experienced NCO's and officers,not 18  year old idiots with no experience. In fact,they really cut back on the numbers there were sending before 1973 because the decision had already been made to pull the troops.

BTW,I know it had to have been 1967 when the army came up with the rule that no 17 year olds could serve in VN because one of them was pulled from VN and sent to the unit I was in on Okinawa because they thought he was 17. They found out he was only 14 or 15 while there,and that he had lied about his age and gotten his senile grandmother to sign a statement saying he was 17 so he could enlist when he was just 13. So....,there he was attached to a Special Forces unit on Okinawa,only 14 or 15 years old,and had already been wounded in combat and had a Purple Heart,a Bronze Star with Valor award,and a Combat Infantryman's badge. What happened is the army notified his hometown newspaper in Ky that young PFC Shaunessy had been wounded in combat,received a couple of medals,and was on Okinawa while recovering from wounds. People at home freaked when they saw that,and notified the army. ZOOM! He was gone in the blink of an eye.

PROBABLY what happened is Chief Bullshitter was determined to be a VN ERA vet by the VA,and he dropped the "Era" tag and just called himself a VN vet. VN ERA vets were people who were just in the US Military in VN. They could have been stationed in Alaska,or Oklahoma.

 It surprises people,but 90 percent of the US Military members that were sent to VN never heard a shot fired. Clerks,truck drivers,cooks,supply people,hospital orderlies,finance clerks,etc,etc,etc. There were many,MANY enlisted soldiers that went to VN who went to work every day in dress uniforms and never handled a weapon the whole time they were there.

The only way it was 1955 is if his birthday was in the last 3 weeks. The odds of that are only about 5%. Otherwise it was 1954.
