FLASHBACK: In 2006, TV Reporters Admitted a Border Wall With Mexico Worked

When Congress in 2006 voted overwhelmingly to construct a barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border, TV news networks barely gave the measure any airtime. Perhaps even more surprising to today’s viewers of broadcast news, reporters back then admitted that the border fence worked.
“This section of the border at San Ysidro, south of San Diego, was once the number one hot spot for illegal crossings, but not since they beefed up the fence here in the 1990s. It cut the flow of illegal immigration here way back, and that’s what the government hopes to do elsewhere by fencing about one third of the border with Mexico.â€
