The only reason things have heated up again here on the forum is because of Mitt Romney's virtue-signaling ass.

It gave the most 'pure' (manners/decorum) members here another opportunity to 'shine'.

Funny, but I know none of the 'pure' that are pro-Romney - Most didn't vote for him either, to include me.

Romney is every bit the east coast liberal that Tumpy is.

RE bold:  How am I to converse with somebody with that POV?

Seriously, @roamer_1 ?  You're better than that.  Much better.

No, @DCPatriot , I am deadly serious.

@roamer_1

I don’t think you know what the word character means.

Private morality (mistakenly called character) is between you and your God, and has virtually no bearing on public office. Keeping your campaign promises, in the midst of the blood sport of politics, is character.

I 'see' you, @roamer_1 ... on that lead horse in your avatar.

It's the only way I can justify your pig-headedness.   happy77

@aligncare

In the first place, it is ludicrous to try to divide morality from character, and impossible. Likewise trying to build a firewall between public and personal life - What a man is, he is, whether in public or private.

As to keeping promises, WHAT promises have been kept? Be specific, and executive orders don't count - Only the promises we get to keep.

Go ahead.

Not having anything to do with Romney other than he was the vessel that poured the gasoline.

He said, paraphrased..."He has not risen to the Office....his "character"

And BAM... my good friend @musiclady bolted up in bed like Linda Blair.    :laugh:

Romney is right on that - and so is @musiclady .

Gardner should be primaried for his proposal to kick the national security can down the road--AGAIN.  We need to start construction on the wall ASAP.

Sadly if that happens in Colorado these days his seat would be taken by a Dem.

If I can't let Ty Cobb within 10 feet of my woman, I'll have naught to do with Ty Cobb.
What amazes me in that is that you would find that incredulous.

We’ve had men of stellar character and high morality in office do a piss poor job for the country. Conversely, there was Bill Clinton (lacking any discernible personal morality) who did the right thing (with some prodding from Newt Gingrich) on signing the legislation that came out of the contract with America – and America prospered because Clinton had the sense to do the right thing.

Oh bull.  Clinton had no choice with a Republican controlled House and Senate.  America prospered as much as it did during that time despite Clinton.

WHICH men of stellar character and high morality are you referencing?
So in your eyes character counts for nothing. Got it.
You much prefer the cynical 'triangulation' of a conman... And that seems to explain your affinity for Tump.

   @Emjay I've been with you through thick and thin also, many times we've pizzed each other off but when I say I Love You it's not the same as when I say that to RiV, you know that, don't you?
   Your always Special to me.

Thanks @corbe   NO matter how hard we try to pizz each other off, we just can't shake the love.

Ty Cobb was nothing compared to King David. Now there was a moral reprobate.

While that ain't me, that IS me. While I ain't been there exactly, I have been there a thousand times over.

Right. The difference is repentance.

Hey @roamer_1   You showed your character when you only excerpted a few lines criticizing Romney from that American Thinker article you posted, when, in fact, the whole article was mainly about what a great job Trump is doing for the country.

WHAT article, @Emjay ? I don't remember referencing any article wrt tumpy the clown. For the most part, I have stayed out of it.

Not my circus.

That wanders perilously close to the bastardized 'Judge not lest ye be judged'...

But I'm not the one claiming Godly powers of spiritual discernment.
