Republican Lawmaker Says Trump Should Put His Money Where His Mouth Is

NC Representative Walter Jones suggests President Trump be a bit more proactive in funding the border wall.

Well, here’s a novel idea, and three cheers to Representative Walter Jones (R-N.C.) for coming up with it.

On Friday, Jones offered up some commonsense advice that could go a long way towards solving the core issue of the government shutdown, now entering its second week.

Namely, Jones has suggested that if President Trump is so eager beaver for a border wall, maybe a little seed money is the way to go,

Better idea ... he needs to send out a petition to the American people and forward to Congress those petitions to build the wall.  Along with that petition, people could send in a donation AND the President could also challenge big Pharma, corporations, etc., to match his donation (perhaps a million).

He had roughly 63,000,000 votes in '16.  Approximately $80.00 from each of those people would give him the $5 Billion needed.  IF Congress would be willing to honor the petition and allow those donations to fund the wall, I am absolutely certain, he'd get well over the funds needed.  We'd have our wall.  The middle finger salute needs to be given to Congress on this.  We ARE the government.  They work for US, we don't work for them!

The President should donate his first quarter earnings to the GoFundMe/TheWall account; but only if  Rep. Jones matches it with his first quarter earnings.

Fair is fair.   :smokin:

Th $5billion isn't the total cost for the wall, it is just what they want this year to get started and will probably cover a few dozen miles. The total is estimated anywhere between 70-90 billion before ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and manning.

Please post a link to the 90 billion estimate.

Perhaps it could be manned with soldiers who should be brought home from Africa, the Balkans and various Middle Eastern locales.

Ditto.  $90 billion seems a bit excessive. Even at that, let's stop donations to other countries and use those funds to secure our borders.

Good idea but it might require passing a law.

No one seems to be talking about how much we would save by stopping the illegal invasion.

You are correct and the cost of illegal immigration goes beyond the monetary issue.  You can't put a price tag on the safety of our citizens, nor the sovereignty of our country.
