A manhunt was underway Wednesday for a man suspected of fatally shooting a police officer during a traffic stop early Wednesday in Stanislaus County.

Cpl. Ronil Singh, 33, radioed that he was pulling over a vehicle at 12:57 a.m. at Merced Street and Eucalyptus Avenue in Newman, authorities said. A few minutes later, he called out “shots fired” over the radio, they said.

Officers who responded found Singh had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The motorist who had been stopped was gone, police said.

Story drudge report is running, says suspect in country "illegally". It sounds like they may know who he is. It was just a traffic stop. Policeman was born in Fiji.

I'd say its high time to begin targeting of illegals who commit heinous crimes like this here to have a mandatory death sentence if convicted.

Enough of this being treated equally to us Americans and those who have the right to actually be here.  When they entered here illegally, they have abrogated any rights to be treated in our courts equally to citizens.

A message needs to be clearly and unequivocally be made that ends the reign of terror on Americans by illegals.

This would have been a third DUI for an illegal immigrant gang member.  Why would he have not been deported after the first DUI?  Prayers for the family of the officer shot.

And another thing.  Wouldn't this guys two previous convictions be under that new prison reform bill that Kushner pushed?  Two previous DUI's?  Does the prison reform bill set illegal immigrants back out onto the streets also?

Maybe because a policeman was killed, they will reexamine this policy... but probably not.

The man accused of killing a California police officer during a traffic stop illegally entered into the United States from Mexico through Arizona several years ago, officials said.

The shooting death of 33-year-old Newman police Cpl. Ronil Singh reignited a debate over crimes by undocumented immigrants and prompted President Trump to once again tweet about the need for a border wall.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department announced in a news conference Friday that Gustavo Perez Arriaga, 32, was arrested on a murder warrant at a home near Bakersfield, Calif. Friday following a statewide manhunt.
