Bozell & Graham Column: These Boots Are Made for Double Standards
By Brent Bozell and Tim Graham | December 28, 2018 6:02 AM EST

Is there anything, anything at all, for which President Trump won’t be faulted by a press corps that despises him so much they are making a mockery of themselves in front of the world?

They slammed the president for failing to visit troops in a war zone. Then on Christmas night, he snuck out of town with Melania to bring Christmas cheer to troops in Iraq. So they slammed him for signing Make America Great Hats that soldiers brought him, turning the trip into a "campaign stop."

It gets even more ridiculous. The scribes at Yahoo News discovered something far more pressing and their scoop showed up on cellphones from coast to coast on December 26. A fashion writer named Kerry Justich uncovered a national outrage, apparently. Her headline: “Melania Trump gets mocked for wearing Timberland boots while visiting the troops.”

What’s disgraceful to me about this whole thing is that Melania Trump is the first First Lady in the history of the presidency to be completely missing (blacklisted?) from the entirety of the food/fashion/women’s magazine industry.

This amazing First Lady, who speaks five languages and is the second-ever First Lady of the United States to be born outside of the United States, has an interesting life story to tell. But, readers of these magazines will never know it – magazine profits be damned.

Imagine, a former fashion model, married a renowned real estate tycoon and TV star who beat the odds to become president of the United States; and no cover stories on the supermarket racks featuring this accomplished woman, Melania Trump?

Shameful.

If she was the wife of Biden or some other Dem nitwit, we'd be getting deluged with Melania is Wonderful articles and such. But because she's Trump's wife, she's persona non grata.

They are making asshats out of themselves. No matter what he does, it's F-Trump and the horse he rode in on, even if he did the very thing they just previously criticized him for not doing, just the day before.
The Republic is lost.

They have flat whizzed away what little credibility they had going in to 2016, with everyone but the dead enders. If this is the only lasting achievement of this administration it will have been worth it.
