 ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Forces of the international coalition against ISIS visited Manbij on Sunday, walking in the streets to talk with locals and hear their concerns and fears about a possible Turkish offensive on their city.

“People are disappointed” after the US decided to pull its forces out of northern Syria, tweeted Mustafa Bali, press officer for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The people of Manbij have been living under threat of a Turkish attack for more than a year and a half. US forces deployed to the city in March 2017 to “deter aggression” after clashes occurred between the SDF-backed Manbij Military Council and Turkish-backed Syrian militias.
