Trump left Kurdish allies to be 'eaten alive,' say Syrians in SDF-held areas
Zouhir Al Shimale

The SDF spokesman hinted the US pull-out could make Syria's autonomous Kurdish administration less inclined to retain custody of detained IS fighters (AFP)

Fears of a Turkish assault have grown among residents of northern Syria after the announced withdrawal of US forces from the region.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a mainly Kurdish-led armed group backed by the US, have said they will keep fighting Islamic State (IS) in eastern Syria despite the announced US withdrawal, but warned that this could be halted if Turkey attacks them.

"The US made one hell of a mistake. IS wasn't completely demolished, they still exist and are able to attack and flourish in many areas," Mustafa Hamind, head of SDF media operations in northern Syria, told Middle East Eye.

Perhaps the Jordanians should be helping the Kurds...

This is what Obama did, in some ways as in Iraq. Trump has done a lot of good but a lot of that can be undone with this.

Those people fought and died for us, this is why so many are upset by this.

The Christians who this affects, never asked for the US to intervene in 2003; then, once Iraq was somewhat pacified, they never asked the US to leave.

Highly irresponsible.

It was unpopular to say, but I said originally, how the Christians did not farewell after the intervention, then, things got much worse under Obama. I'm consistent,  this is disastrous by Trump as well. Hopefully, the Christians, Kurds and other groups can muster up proper protection.

Trump won pivotally, on the white Evangelical vote, some savvy politician running will be able to point this out for the next election.  Then, Trump may well not get those Christian votes if he makes it out of the primaries even.

He campaigned on how bad that Iranian nuke deal was, now, he's giving Syria to them.
