As court filings roil the White House, Melania Trump ups her schedule

Capping off her husband's first year in the White House last December, first lady Melania Trump said she wished she could spend the holidays on a deserted island.

A year later, her schedule looks much different.

Since Thanksgiving, she’s visited the Red Cross to assemble comfort kits for American troops. She gave one of her most high-profile speeches on the opioid crisis at Liberty University in Virginia. She’s accompanied her husband to Argentina for the G-20 summit, though she has traveled with him on most of his trips abroad.

She had a brief pause in events while the nation spent a week honoring former President George H.W. Bush — she paid her respects to him at the Capitol and during his funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral.

Trump participated in a “Toys for Tots” holiday toy drive this week and visited troops at military bases in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and aboard the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush. On Thursday, she read to patients at Children’s National Hospital.
