New York state Sen. Kevin Parker told a Republican Senate staffer to kill herself in a now-deleted tweet Tuesday.
Mr. Parker, a Democrat who is known for his temper, tweeted the offending comment to Senate deputy Republican communications director Candice Giove after she reported that a parking placard assigned to Mr. Parker was placed in a car to which it wasn’t registered.
“Kill yourself!†Mr. Parker tweeted in response.
A shocked Ms. Giove retweeted the lawmaker’s message and asked, “Did a Senator just write this to me?â€
Mr. Parker deleted the tweet and issued a brief apology for the “poor choice of words,†but went on to bash Ms. Giove on Twitter and to the media.
“@Candicegiove is on the wrong side of history for every important issue facing New York State!†he tweeted.
