Former Trump deputy campaign manager David Bossie said Tuesday it's "humbling" to be mentioned as a potential candidate for White House chief of staff, and appeared open to the job if it were offered to him.
Bossie spoke with "Fox & Friends," one of President Trump's favorite morning shows, and addressed reports that he's being considered as a replacement for chief of staff John Kelly, who's slated to leave the administration by the end of the year.
"It’s a humbling thing to even be on a list," Bossie said. "Whether people take that list seriously or whether that’s actually a serious list of people the president's considering, I have no idea."
Bossie, a Fox News contributor, said he knew Trump before his presidential candidacy, and believes he understands the president's base.
"I do feel I understand the movement that elected him," Bossie said.
The former campaign aide said he's having lunch Friday with Trump and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
