Amnesty International seeks release of former New Jerseyan from Palestinian jail
by Staff Report • December 8, 2018 •

A Palestinian court has extended the detention of a hunger-striking Palestinian-American activist who claims she was tortured in captivity and appeared weak, with trouble walking, breathing and keeping her eyes open, as she entered the courtroom.

The Jericho court ordered that Suha Jbara, a remain in custody 15 more days on suspicions she funded ‘illegal organizations’ after she started a hunger strike two weeks ago in protest of unjust treatment by Palestinian authorities.

Jbara, who is a U.S. citizen born in Panama, was arrested by the Palestinian Authority’s security forces during a raid on her home in a village north of Ramallah on November 3, and the activist has told Amnesty International that she was beaten, slammed against a wall and threatened with sexual violence by her interrogators.

Palestinian-American prolongs hunger strike over alleged torture in PA jail
Suha Jbara, arrested without charge by Palestinian security forces last month, says she was beaten and threatened with sexual assault

RAMALLAH, Occupied West Bank – In the notorious Palestinian Authority prison of Jericho, Suha Jbara, a mother of three children, sits behind bars in solitary confinement.

Her case is riddled with controversy and ambiguous claims. The 30-year-old was arrested without charge on 3 November during a violent raid by Palestinian security forces on her home in Turmus Ayya, a village northeast of Ramallah.

'The court treated her like a criminal and not as someone who is accused of something that may not be true. The PA has become worse than the Israelis'

    - Khadija Jbara, Suha's sister

The "Palestinian American" woman is in a PA (Palestinian Authority) jail....not some Israeli jail. So, this is a bit interesting.  And again, be skeptical of what Middle East Eye often publishes...we should be of everyone that publishes though.  Sounds true.

Okay, there are a lot of stories on her. I think I might have come across this name before, born in Panama, lived prior in New Jersey.
