A young woman from the US who moved to the Netherlands to study after a family tragedy has been stabbed to death in her student complex in Rotterdam.

Sarah Papenheim, 21, was found dying in her lodgings in the city's Kralingen district on Wednesday, and armed police later seized a suspect in another city.

She was studying psychology at Erasmus University, having been affected by her brother's suicide some years ago.

The suspect the story says, seemed to be living in the student housing complex as well. Jilted probably would be my guess.

The BBC story says a male, other stories say it was her roommate? So, the guy lived with her? Surely, details need to come out.

A U.S. woman studying in the Netherlands was stabbed to death in her apartment on Wednesday police told The Washington Post.

A Rotterdam Police Department spokesman said that officers had arrested the college student's 23-year-old roommate 65 miles away.

Sarah Papenheim, a 21-year-old from Minnesota who was studying at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, was found in a "bath of blood," Donee Odegard, the victim's mother, told Minneapolis-based KMSP-TV​.

I don't understand this. She was sharing a room with the guy that murdered her,but her boyfriend lived in another room down the hall?
