BREAKING: The mystery "criminal investigation" mentioned in Flynn sentencing memo was referred by Mueller to another U.S. Attorney's Office in another district and is not part of his "collusion" case

If he can't get the elder, he will be only a little less happy if he gets the younger.

If Trump Jr broke the law, then he deserves to be “got” - or is it passé now to expect people to pay the consequences for breaking the law?  Or is that just a privilege limited to those whose surname is “Trump”?

And FWIW, IMHO he won’t indict Trump except for something as clear as videotaped proof of Trump killing someone.  He’s almost certainly following the model that was used with Nixon: building a roadmap that Congress can then follow if it musters the political will to impeach.

What Mueller is doing is making sure that the president is seen to be surrounded by criminals whom he willingly chose to associate with. The question then becomes whether the Congress has the political will to impeach under those circumstances.

How does that answer my question?  If Trump Junior broke the law, shouldn’t he pay the consequences?

Makes sense to me.  I'm not a big fan of the special counsel concept.  In theory, it's a good idea.  In practice, it always seems to become a political tool - the very opposite of what it is intended to be.

I don’t now. In the last case, Starr brought information to Reno for potential follow up. The AG or acting AG are the ones who can authorize or deny further inquiry. I doubt Reno had a political ax to grind against Clinton. The discoveries that have fallen outside the current investigation scope have been referred to other federal districts. The out of control prosecutor narrative has largely falling apart.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano on Thursday walked back a previous statement in which he said Donald Trump Jr. expects to be indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller.

"You know I did say that, and I basically was repeating what had already been out there," Napolitano said on "Fox & Friends." "I since have heard from [him], and he says he never said it. And it was an inaccurate statement."

"I take him at his word," he added.

The comment comes just a day after Napolitano said on the Sirius XM radio show of ABC News chief legal analyst Dan Abrams that Trump Jr. told friends that he expect to be indicted in the special counsel's probe into 2016 election inference and any possible coordination with the Trump campaign.

Used to take days to resolve one of these authorities-closing-in-on Trump stories. But, it’s nice at least to see quicker clarifications on these relentless – what’s the word? Lies.

It seems like he’s got his bases covered, either way.  IMO, Jr has problems with his lack of recall, regarding the three calls he made or received from a blocked number after the TT Russia meeting.

By Victor Morton - The Washington Times - Updated: 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018

The senior judicial analyst at Fox News said Wednesday that he expects Donald Trump Jr. to be indicted — and said the presidential son does too.

In an interview Wednesday on SiriusXM’s “The Dan Abrams Show,” Mr. Napolitano based his speculation on special counsel Robert Mueller’s recommendation that former national security adviser Michael Flynn serve no jail time in light of the “substantial assistance” he had given the probe.

When Mr. Abrams suggested that means Mr. Mueller expects to bring charges against someone in President Trump’s inner circle, Mr. Napolitano replied, “yes.”

“I don’t know who,” Mr. Napolitano said, “but I do know that Donald Jr. has told friends he expects to be indicted.”

“Do you expect he’d be indicted?” Mr. Abrams continued.

“Yes,” Mr. Napolitano replied.

No, @Mod5 the topics were not merged.  If you want to combine the threads, why not use the updated headline .... or is this too pro Trump for you?   Why bury the revision under a false headline and call it the same topic??  9999hair out0000

So you ignore prosecutorial discretion?

How big is the supposed violation? Was it intentional?
