The decline in U.S. life expectancy is unlike anything we've seen in a century

The CDC identified three things shortening American lives.
By Sara Chodosh November 29, 2018

More Americans are dying by their own hands and by overdoses.

For a nation that spends more on healthcare per citizen than almost any other, America isn’t exactly reaping the rewards. Life expectancy has been steadily climbing for decades now, but in the last few years it’s taken a troubling turn in the other direction.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control shows that a small decrease in life expectancy, from 78.7 to 78.6 years, is part of a continuing trend. Even as we make progress treating cancer, heart disease, and stroke—three of the biggest killers—we’re losing ground on other fronts and have been since 2014. That makes this continuous decline unlike anything we've seen since World War I and the Spanish influenza, which both happened between 1915 and 1918.

A good percentage of the people in my area who die in their 20s, 30s or 40s did so from overdoses. That will bring down the average life expectancy pretty quickly.

And the very same lefties that demand we help addicts get "safe" access to drugs - like in San Francisco - say our private healthcare sucks because we have declining life expectancy and demand government healthcare replace it for better health... They cause the problem and then demand more of their "solutions" while we all swirl down the drain.

This is a bullshit study.  The number of dumb asses ODing are part of a generation of losers who deserve to die off rather than pull the country down having to support them as they suck on the Gov teat for the rest of their poor pathetic existences.
Take the losers out and we are still living longer that at anytime in history.

Something like 60% of Americans are overweight or obese.

It also brings down the number of stupid people polluting the planet.

If they would rather die via an OD then they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.
Win win.

The CDC says it's under 40%.  https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/adult.html

Being overweight and being obese are different in medicine. When you add the overweight and the obese together it is around 60%.

It is really cool, to start with marijuana in your teens. Ignore parents, wise friends that say don't do it.

You, as a younger person,, know far too much already. You know for instance, that alcohol is worse, know that nobody ever gets addicted to pot.

Later you can experiment with other drugs, like speed, X, lsd, opioids, heroin.

In part such experimentation grows from invincibility, from haveing used pot without bad effect. This proves the ones that advised against it, were wrong.

Street drugs areoften laced with other ingredients, to make them stronger, to keep the customer coming back.

Fentanyl is extremely strong, so when used to increase strength, it is unpredictable.

But once started on your smart journey with drugs, it will be "okay" this time.

Best strategy is to just steer clear of mind-altering addictive substances.

If you look at the statistics that is observably and objectively true.

know that nobody ever gets addicted to pot.

Hell yes people get addicted to pot, and sometimes marijuana induced apathy destroys lives. There is no physical addiction though. If you do weed for 10 years and then stop you won't start having withdrawals.

I have done LSD and plan to do it again at some point. I'd never use things like heroin or cocaine because they create a physical dependency. You will have withdrawals if you use those and then stop.

Alcohol is bad for a minority of the population. (one in seven, one in four, one in eight, depending on how you define and measure the problem)

Depends as to how you define addiction.  Currently, it's being used to describe anything that someone doesn't want to stop doing.  As with many other terms (racism, nazism, rape) it waters down the actual meaning and makes a mockery of the real thing.
