George H.W. Bush: emblematic of "a truly vanished world"
Mike Allen

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump said in a statement that Bush's "example lives on, and will continue to stir future Americans to pursue a greater cause." Trump also tweeted that Bush's "accomplishments were great from beginning to end. He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!"

Former President Barack Obama said in a statement that Bush's legacy of public service "may never be matched, even though he'd want all of us to try."

The Clintons said in a statement that "[f]ew Americans have been—or will ever be—able to match President Bush’s record of service to the United States and the joy he took every day from it."

Axios is probably left-leaning but an interesting sentiment.  Certainly, it does ring true,  we are in a new era.

You might be amazed by how many on the left have shown great respect to that man at the news of his passing. He was a gifted human being, and a legend of the times.

The left always does this,  call them "Hitler" when they oppose them, but once they are rendered harmless, they heap praise on them.

I really just think it's a respect thing dude. When the Red Baron was shot down the allied air force celebrated his greatness and commended him for being a valiant foe.

I'm not surprised.  George HW Bush talked about the need for a New World Order in over 200 speeches.  He was a Globalist;  that's why the Left liked him at the bottom line.  (Also, he was an operator for the CIA way back in the 1960s.  He later denied this, but he was obviously a spook.)

Oh, heavens @Dexter   You're the only one who's amazed.

Bush 41’s death reveals the truth of the cliché: the only kind of Republicans the media like is dead ones

Today we will hear most of the media talk about George H.W. Bush in a flattering manner, as they should.  They also acted as if they loved Reagan and McCain when they died – even as they sought to destroy them when they ran for office.

The playbook is always the same.  Democrats, including most of the media, pretend they love Republicans when they die after they trashed them when they ran and lived.

Of course, because that allows them to hijack his comments about Trump for their own purposes.  They don’t give a rats ass about him otherwise.  The only the left cares about when it comes to people, is whether it can use them for some political end.  People are never ends in themselves when it comes to leftists.

Bush may have been many things but the label 'gifted legend' is hysterical.
He was a time server, like Prescott,  who "did politics". Period!
A local failure in Conn, he upped sticks to Texas where he continued his electoral
defeats until Reagan brought him back from the dead, two generations ago.
At his core he was a sentimental and sanctimonious establishment leftist,
in the mold of Rockefeller and Scranton. So who is heaping praise on him?
Why Clinton, Obama, Powell and the rest of these flunkies. What a shock, eh!!!
Giving faint praise, at least he wasn't as incompetent as Junior, likely the worst
buffoon to ever occupy the Oval Office!!!
