It looks like the media hysterics were met with a sigh and a roll of the eyes.  53 seats may be enough to confirm Barrett.  We can hope.

After those elections 3 weeks ago,  one really does need to wait out to the time close to all the votes are counted.

Cindy Hyde-Smith leads by 12 percentage points over Mike Espy with 73 percent of precincts reporting.

The AP has called the runoff for Hyde-Smith, more or less officially putting a cap on the evening. Hyde-Smith currently leads 56 percent to 44 percent, although the remaining uncounted vote figures to be Democratic-leaning. This should still be a single-digit race — and a solid Democratic overperformance — when all is said and done.

I like her, she has that rough around the edges quality about her, very blunt. The sad history of lynchings don't make me think of public events but often in the backwoods somewhere. Congrats to her.
