IS counter-attacks kill 47 US-backed fighters in east Syria: monitor
[AFP]
AFP•November 24, 2018

Beirut (AFP) - Counter-attacks by the Islamic State group have killed at least 47 US-backed fighters over two days as the jihadists struck from their embattled holdout in eastern Syria, a war monitor said Saturday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Kurdish-led alliance supported by a US-led coalition is battling to expel the jihadists from a pocket in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor on the Iraqi border.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said the jihadists launched "three separate assaults" on Saturday.

Just like the alleged gas attack and blaming rebels, one can not know the truth of these attacks. The last story like this, did show the fighters we support did take a hit but we said it was not as bad as reported. Even then, this seems to show the fighting will go on and on and on.

East Syria death toll soars after massive IS attack

BEIRUT, Lebanon – US-backed fighters in Syria suffered record fatalities in an assault by the Islamic State group, a war monitor said Monday, as holdout jihadists kept up a fierce defence of their last Syrian redoubt.

It said a total of more than 200 people have been killed since around 500 IS fighters burst out of the fog shrouding the area in eastern Syria near the border with Iraq to launch their deadly assault on Friday.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 92 of the dead were fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Kurdish-led ground units that have spearheaded the US-backed fight against IS in Syria.

Pretty bad. We are a or the big power in the world, Russia is a big power. I think some of their doings are just messing things up and the same can be asked about us.  Major powers go into these places and I just shake my head about it.

This is from the Kurd press, "Rudaw.net", so a fairly good news source.  Bloody battle.

And again, Iraq sees the ISIS caliphate a heck of a lot more busted than Syria. You almost wonder, if someone could be helping ISIS in Syria. What a mess.
