Roberts raps Trump for 'Obama judge' comment

WASHINGTON â€” Chief Justice John Roberts is pushing back against President Donald Trump for his description of a judge who ruled against Trump's migrant asylum policy as an "Obama judge."

It's the first time the Republican-appointed leader of the federal judiciary has offered even a hint of criticism of Trump, who has previously blasted federal judges who ruled against him.

Roberts said Wednesday the U.S. doesn't have "Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges." He commented in a statement released by the Supreme Court after a query by The Associated Press.

Roberts said on the day before Thanksgiving that an "independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for."

Unfortunately, Roberts is once again wrong. We no longer have an unbiased, independent judiciary. Roberts should know that. He is among them.

Roberts is an idiot if he thinks the 9th Circuit Court isn't purposefully stacked to stop a GOP agenda in any form when it involves topics like immigration or healthcare.

That's very magnanimous of him, but the reality is that "the judiciary" has never been "independent", not since the earliest days of the Republic, and it's growing more politicized over time with the numbers of ideological leftists that are now embedded in it.

Mr. Trump said no more than 80% (or more) of the folks in this forum have said regarding the political stances of judges, such as those of the 9th Circuit, for example.

Justice Roberts may mean well with his comments, but they are woefully ignorant of "what actually is"...

If I recall, the two young adoptees were actually from Ireland, which prohibits adoption out-of-the-country. Somehow the kids got moved to South America first, and then to the Roberts'...

The only person who called her out was Trump for that behavior.

The person who should have was Paul Ryan who as Speaker could have set in motion impeachment proceedings, which is the remedy for straying from the apparent one-sided 'Judicial Code of Conduct'.

Isn't it always the case when a lib decides to disregard the laws or protocol it is largely ignored, but when a conservative does it similarly one hears 'It is not right for one judge to act that way just because another does'.
