I would assume that this means that Trump has already lined up an Acting AG (following succession protocols that are already in place) who will both replace Sessions and take over the Special Counsel oversight (which would ordinarily have the SC reporting directly to the AG anyway, I believe).

This may be one of the reasons Trump required Sessions to resign (i.e., Trump wanted an excuse to take Rosenstein completely off the Mueller case).

Let's hope that 'this time' Trump appoints someone worthy of the position.  He needs a war-time consigliere....even moreso now than before.
