Jeff Sessions on hot seat as Trump hints at possible Cabinet shakeup

The clock is once again ticking on Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

President Trump had said his job was safe until Election Day, but he hinted again Monday that a Cabinet shakeup is in the works — and Mr. Sessions is likely to be the highest-profile job on the line.

Mr. Sessions has his high-profile backers, including former Attorney General Ed Meese and former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, who say the White House should give him some space to keep working or at least give him the chance for a graceful exit.

Mr. Blackwell said he has been advocating for Mr. Sessions to high-level members of the Trump administration, including chief of staff Gen. John F. Kelly. But he also acknowledges that it is an uphill battle.

“If the president has already made the decision that Jeff has to go, we would encourage him to do so in a way that reflects and respects Jeff’s contribution to the forward movement of his agenda,” he said. “Those of us who have been longtime friends of Jeff have constantly tried to get the president to focus on the advancement of his agenda versus his singular disappointment with Jeff’s decision to recuse himself.”......................

Well, unless he’s also gone, that would make Rosenstein acting AG.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Sessions has certainly earned ouster, for non-performance.

GOP Senate majority should mean confirmation of replacement.

Indeed. Trump can fire Rosenstein at any time and he would be wise to do so.

Jeff Sessions, just the name itself is a joke. I laugh every time I hear it.
The most impotent ineffectual do nothing AG ever. This guy makes Holder and Lynch look like statesmen. Yeah sure! Jeff Sessions is on the case. HaHaHa I'm scared. Hahaha

Yes right...  :MiniGun:

BTW... talking about decency (not porn star visiting while the 3rd wife is with child folks)... Perhaps that is the real reason Trump wants him gone. Sessions only fault is he hitched his rope to a dope instead of Cruz.

This is one of the last initial GOP holdovers remaining in his Cabinet (besides Pence).

So...since he recused himself, who's minding the till?  Certainly if he were doing his job he would have fired Rosenstein and Mueller a long time ago...both of them are up to their eyebrows in corruption...especially Clinton corruption.

I wouldn't bet on that one.

Safer to think Rosenstein fired at same time.

Clinton corruption... lets see, Trump pardoned Hillary basically the day he took office... "they have been through enough"... You don't see Sessions painting himself in a corner because he does things by the book and Trump knows it. There is no conflict of interest because Sessions is by the book, thus he recursed himself. Jeff is not some lawyer that is going to jail for Trump, you will have to find a chump for that.

The sad thing is Sessions is such a gentleman, he will graciously step down and not make a big stink like other Trump appointees did. 1st class gentleman, quietly doing his job when allowed to do so.

Hint:  For starters you might want to look up Uranium One and Rosenstein's connection.

I agree.  Trump has trashed the one person who actually cares about immigration.  Gang of 8 Lindsey Graham is the Trump boy.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Sessions and Rosenstein will both go out together.  Both are a disgrace, and Rosenstein should be indicted for his role with the Clinton Crime Family investigation.

Trump will not do anything to Clinton because he plans to run against her again.  She has a boat load of money, but she has an extremely negative personality that he can easily best.

I honestly don't see the ole broad running again ... she barely had the stamina to campaign in '16 and she was photographed/filmed several times stumbling, and falling and displaying some just plain bizarre behavior.

True enough, but that was then, and I am talking one year from now.  ANd to be exact, she is not attempting to stay in every news cycle because she wants to enjoy her senior years.  She is running, and has been running for a solid year.  She is going around to all her international contributors to her faux foundation saying she will run, and she fully expect them to pump money into the faux foundation, the majority of money being used to fund whatever the Clinton chose to spend it on.

She has many billions sitting in the foundation, and will easily raise twice or three times the money than all other Dem contenders combined, unless one of the billionaires decides to run too, i.e. Bloomberg, etc.

The ONE person?  That's absurd.

And no worries, Graham stays in the Senate.
