The wife and I are debating on where we'll eventually land. I can promise you one thing though. Wherever that ends up being I will have the reddest neck in town."
I would NOT choose Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico. They're all "tilting blue", and even if they're not actually there yet, the writing is on that wall.
Can you say "future Atzlan"? I knew you could.
Even the once-solid ship of Texas -- though still above the water line right now -- is showin' signs of leaks. The bilge pumps can't keep up with the inflow.
Of course, Colorado is out for conservatives.
Even Montana ain't particularly great no mo'.
I'd be looking at:
Utah -- probably going to stay "the reddest for the longest" cuz of all the LDS folks.
Idaho -- especially the northern end
Wyoming
West end of Nebraska
Very southwest corner of South Dakota
To the east:
Kentucky (wasn't a slave state, so low minority demographics compared to TN)
West Virginia -- the reddest state in the east (even though they re-elected Manchin)
If you can put up with the lefties, Vermont (yes, Vermont!) -- it's going to remain the most beautiful, for the longest time, before the changing tides rise high enough to sink us all. The Northeast Kingdom is one of the most beautiful places in America.
Or, just to the east... New Hampshire.
