I think the constant stream of bad news is extremely bad for our mental health. Information didn't used to move so quickly. People weren't CONSTANTLY inundated with knowledge of the worst happenings in the world around them. It can seem like the world is falling apart when you're aware of every tragedy that is happening in a world with billions of people.
Good comment, and very true,
@Dexter .
It's especially hard for people who really care. If you get involved emotionally with every tragedy (and there are so many), it neither helps you, nor the people you read about.
But the constant stream is hard to balance, and I think we all need to keep working on it.
My problem is that I can get very angry, as well, with those who cause these tragedies. (I want them to suffer.......... badly). That's not emotionally healthy either.
It's challenging to stay informed, and not sink into deep sorrow.
