Former New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman will not face criminal charges for allegations of physical abuse against several women he had dated, a special prosecutor said Thursday.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, appointed in May by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to investigate the allegations, said in a statement that she believed the women who accused Schneiderman of abuse but that "legal impediments, including statutes of limitations, preclude criminal prosecution."
