New Arizona poll: Democrat beating McSally in crucial Senate race
by Joe Williams
 | October 28, 2018 01:17 PM

Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema edged above Republican challenger Rep. Martha McSally in the latest polling on the Arizona Senate race.

Sinema is up 47 percent to 44 percent in the latest results from the CBS News Battleground Tracker poll from Sunday, within the margin of error. A New York Times poll last Saturday had McSally up 2 percentage points.

The tightening in Arizona comes as other key Senate races across the country remain close just nine days before the 2018 midterm elections, in which Democrats hope to take back the House, the Senate, or both, though the latter is looking increasingly unlikely.

Sen. Joe Donnelly of Indiana is trailing Republican challenger Mike Braun by 3 percentage points — within the margin of error for the poll — while Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson and Florida Gov. Rick Scott are tied, according to CBS News.

CBS's polling also found that healthcare remains a top policy issue among voters, with participants overwhelmingly favoring Democrats over Republicans as the party that will continue to require insurers to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions.

The popular Obamacare provision has emerged as a key point of debate in the run-up to the midterm elections. Republicans are increasingly voicing support for it, despite voting several times to gut it as part of a broader repeal of the health law. Meanwhile, Democrats are campaigning on Obamacare after struggling for years to defend it as monthly premiums skyrocketed and insurers exited states altogether.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has said Republicans could try again to repeal the law if the party retains control of Congress.

The poll, conducted for CBS News by YouGov between Oct. 23-26, has a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points in Arizona, 3.7 in Indiana, and 4 in Florida.

Arizona poll MOE 4.1%, in other words a toss up. Factor in the over sampling of (D) typically found  with the major polling outfits...and McSally wins.

Head to head, McSally is a quality individual. Sinema isn’t fit to shine McSally’s shoes.

If Sinema wins the only conclusion to be drawn is that most Arizona voters are ISIS sympathizing methheads.

They elected John McCain and Jeff Flake. Draw your own conclusions from that.

Arizona can make odd choices, but choosing that little nutcase Sinema would be one of their oddest.

I get three or four calls from pollsters per day (that I know of, I don't even have the ringer turned on on that line).  One outfit was calling me at least once a day.  I finally picked up and started pressing buttons.  I don't know what they asked, but they got their freaking data out of me.  Good luck with it.

I just don't know.  It's obvious the Rats are pouring money into this race in AZ.  There will be another Senate race in 2 years because John McCain just couldn't bring himself to let go of the candy when he should have..  This dust-up we're having this year because Flake decided to be McCain.

I think Sinema has the hot librarian look.  Bisexual with big boobs.   Woof.

Phone polls are not reliable in the least.

I ran for office twice.  First time I got 87% of the vote.  Second time, I ran and relied on phone polls where over 80% of the folks polled said they would vote for me.  I thought it was another lock, so I did not campaign door to door as much as I should have.  My opponent, running for his 3rd term, beat me by 150 votes.

Polls are unreliable, and the media, who are the primary purveyors of polls are more than biased.

November 6th, the biggest red tsumani ever will hit the shores of the USA.

Polls by SeeBS are especially suspect.  I can tell you the Rats are pumping in an unprecedented (for AZ) number of dollars in this election.  I've never had a Rat knock on my door for a candidate, until yesterday.

The Lib MSM are using polls right now to demoralize the Right and boost the Left. It's all bullshit.

Have they ever been otherwise?  The media has been "push-polling" for their Rat pals about as long as I can remember.

I have had 10 people come to my door stumping for Stacey Abrams, the Democommie candidate for Governor of Georgia, and no one for the Republican candidate Brian Kemp.  They are working hard here in Georgia.

I went and voted a week ago in early voting, and was never more excited to vote.  There was a steady stream of people pouring into the polling facility.

Kemp will defeat Abrams in a close race.  Money just does not buy everything.

I agree, but Arizona voting history would suggest a lot of 'no brainers' in residence.
