Democrats are leading Republicans by 17 points on a generic ballot, according to a new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll.
The poll, conducted last week, found that 57 percent of likely voters said they plan to vote for Democrats in the midterm elections, with 40 percent saying they plan to vote Republican.
The data released Monday shows an increase in support for Democrats from an LA Times poll the previous week, which found the party leading by 13 points.
The poll also found that Democrats are more likely than Republicans to vote at all – with 52 percent saying they will cast a ballot compared to Republicans’ 42 percent.
The poll’s timing, from Oct. 21-27, coincides with two major news events.
