Yes and how did that work out for Arpaio? He’s a convicted, then pardoned has-been, who is partly responsible for making AZ a contested state.
It's not possible to prove or disprove what you are saying, we haven't sent Regular Army into this task before. It's always been National Guard. RA is not in the habit of announcing what they're going to do in advance.
@RoosGirl You don’t have to GAF about the optics. The fact of the matter is, they really effed it up last time with the ineptitude and infighting over the zero tolerance and family separation policy. They took a political beating in that effort. Give this admin enough rope (or barbed wire) and they’ll tangle themselves in it, again.
2000 NG back in April I think it was, to do paperwork.
And you are giving him far too much credit for making the AZ Senate race contested, that was the work of Flake and McStain. Sinema was running for that seat since before Arpaio tangled with the Feds over Illegal Immigrant policy.
They are, but the optics of whites hosing minorities are poor. You know the Birmingham footage and Trump comparisons to Bull Connor are ready across the media outlets.
National Guard isn't real active duty military.
There’s no question it’s a combination of McCain, Flake, and Arpaio. He also ran for that open seat and was a distant third, after losing his bid for sheriff two years prior. The prison may have once been his calling card, but Old Man Usta is dead.
Well...except for the part where our military and Border Patrol are very heavily black and hispanic. Other than that, you're right on target....
Pardon the interruption. I’m not a military tactician, but I play one on the Internet.Go ahead, you all may continue with your...discussion.
...I don’t know nuffin’ bout birthing no foreign policy, either. But, I play one on the Internet.
I don't know why you people aren't interested in having a serious conversation.
In all seriousness, I’m just impressed by how we sitting in our living rooms know so much more about events on the ground than the folks in this administration, with Donald Trump as ceo.
How serious can it get? At the moment it seems we're having a heavy debate on the maximum number of Angels that can dance on the head of a pin. We don't know how the Army's going to be used in this deal, those who do know aren't telling and we don't have a recent precedent to go by.
What I’m saying is we finally have a president who has a lifetime of experience functioning at peak levels of performance in business, whose performed in office as advertised in the election. So, I expect that the administration’s response to this invasion at the border is well planned and executed and that contingencies and follow ups are in place. Successful CEOS are just that way.
Oh bleep, don't tell @Right_in_Virginia or @aligncare that. We must keep this bullshit up and don't you dare have any fun doing it.
I guess your definition of ‘heavily’ is a small percentage above the mean population. The statistics don’t support your claim for the military. The US pop is about 78% white and the military pop is about 70% white.http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/04/13/6-facts-about-the-u-s-military-and-its-changing-demographics/
And, "hispanic" is included in "white", so your numbers are not relevant. It's complicated, I know.
