Fake news from a nevertrumpin' RINO!!!

It is fake news. Deliberate fake news. I've heard Newt say that the Republicans must always claim they are going to lose and Pelosi will be speaker. He's just following his own advice. The idea is to motivate lazy and complacent Republicans to get out to vote.

According to Newt, the worst campaign tactic the Republicans can do is to follow the Democrat model and start claiming that they are going to win 98% of the vote. These claims of a predetermined victory keep people from voting because they thinking it is not necessary. Newt will 'always' say that the Republicans are going to lose, even if he really thinks they already have it in the bag.

If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

This is his day job.

Then he should be fired.

In all fairness @Once-Ler Lindsey publicly criticized and exposed the corruption of the left during the Kavanaugh hearings.  He did good.
@libertybele

I often try to make points with sarcasm, and humor.

I'm dead serious now.

I like Kavanaugh.  I have concerns about him, but what ever he did short of animal torture as a minor...I don't care that much.  If he took advantage of a minor sex partner because she was drunk...there but for the grace of God go I...more than once.

I don't care who Lindsey f**ks and I don't care what the Bible calls it.

There is no poster at TBR that has more admiration for Lindsey Graham than me.  I hate his pro Trump positions but I understand why he takes them.

There has never been a more pro-military Senator than Lindsey Graham...and that includes John McCain.

Great observations.

This is his day job.

I don't think Newt's that dialed in any longer to what's happening on the ground.   He's basically a lecturer and historian/author snarfing paid speaking gigs and enjoying himself.

House races always have local dynamics in play and it takes concerted attention to make any predictions that are even marginally accurate.

Rove's pretty much in the same boat.

There are some guys over at FR (LS, Ravi, Speedy in Texas) who are doing some pretty detailed and timely analysis of early and mail-in voting in States that present daily counts and I put more weight into those trends than any polls these days.

It'll be close, one way or the other.   I'm hoping the Dems fall short of the majority by 4 or 5.

Usually, I think Newt is pretty insightful... maybe not here but what if he's right? It's just a nightmare a lot of us don't care to think too much on.  He knows the House.

Also, remember, some of what is being said may be for public consumption, so Joe Sixpack says, "Hot Damn, I better get out there and vote",  you think people will show up with what Newt said? Or if Newt Said, 75% chance, the GOP keeps the House! Get Real Man!

Never?

How about Senator John Langdon of Massachusetts New Hampshire? Actively aided the Revolutionary war,  Founding Father, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Langdon_%28politician%29 There's even a street in Madison, Wisconsin named Langdon.

How about Bob Dole? He lost an arm for his country, same thing actually can be said for Daniel Inouaye.  Also, on both sides of the war between the states,  civil war veterans largely took over in the aftermath and some were Senators.

Graham has been a hawk, sometimes, that's not so great for the military.  That was a bit of a knock on McCain.

Gingrich got tossed because he was a player, and he stone cold told his bald cancerous wife that she couldn't bust his nut, so he found a new receptacle.   Were you politically aware in 1996?  Remember the Starr report?

What are you talking about? He got forced out over lying to congress trying to hide his tax scam.

That report was so inconsequental Newt won re-election 9 months later.  You argue like a rat @Frank Cannon .  Newt stepped down because the failed Clinton impeachment cost GOP seats in 1998, Newt had affairs, and the GOP lost faith with Newt.  An affair cost the next Speaker Livingstone his seat weeks later.

Quote
In the aftermath of the 1998 midterm elections, where the GOP lost five House seats and failed to make a net gain of seats in the Senate, House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia stepped down from the speakership and declined to take his seat for an 11th term. In mid-December, Representative Robert L. Livingston of Louisiana—the former chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and the Speaker-designate—stated in a dramatic surprise announcement on the House floor that he would not become Speaker, following widely publicized revelations of his extramarital affairs.
