Rather than shout at each other with competing cries of "bullsh*t,  why not post a link?

Here's mine -  Is Illegal Immigration Linked to More or Less Crime?

It seems intuitive to me that illegal immigrants are less likely to commit crimes,  because of the special consequences they face if caught - they can be deported.   Most come here to work and need to keep their noses clean.   As Dylan sang - to live outside the law you must be honest.

Start here.

The laws regarding the conditions for asylum need to change.  Otherwise, what will happen is what I've described:   They will be processed for asylum by means of an initial interview.  If they pass that interview (and many if not most will), they will be given a monitoring device and released into the U.S. pending a court date.  Most will not show up for the court date and be absorbed into the underground economy and the institutions that enable it.   If they keep their noses clean,  they could be here for years.

I gather you're OK with the status quo?

How does that not ENCOURAGE thousands more to do the same thing?

I didn't say that.   But I have sympathy for these folks who are escaping intolerable drug gang violence in their home countries.   What needs to be done is not reject such folks as unworthy of asylum, but better vet and account for them.    I wrote the following on another thread:

I'd be curious to know if there is an effective way to vet asylum seekers with government authorities in Honduras and El Salvador,  to check whether they have been arrested for violent crimes.    Those who arrive will be able to get an initial asylum interview,  and there ought to be better ways to both cross-check their claims of persecution and their own personal honesty.    Then, when they are released into the U.S. pending the formal asylum hearing,  I'd think they ought to be treated like folks on parole,  obliged to check in with government officials on a weekly or monthly basis,  so their locations and activities can be monitored.   Violation of such requirements should be, without more, grounds for deportation and rejection of their asylum bid.   Asylum seekers should be required to be fingerprinted and to sign agreements so as to allow expedited deportations in the event of violation of the "parole" requirement.

How many refugees are there? A sob story for all of them probably exists except the real bad people of which some are.

This was after 2015:

Quote
Key facts about the world’s refugees

By Phillip Connor and Jens Manuel Krogstad

With the number of displaced people in the world at more than 60 million in 2015 1 – a total that counts both those living inside and outside of their home countries – the plight of refugees has gained new prominence as countries, including the U.S., have taken in displaced people.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/10/05/key-facts-about-the-worlds-refugees/

That number may be around 70,000,000 now.  We can't take care of all of them.

By the way, if no one said it or if it was not posted here, VP Pence says he was told by Guatemala's Honduras' President that Venezuela is funding this caravan.

Also, let's not forget, we have many homeless in the USA; they should take priority in this matter.

The US should just take over all of Central America and clean it up.

Different problem.  Most of those are drug addicted and unemployable.    The migrants want to come here to work.

Oh FFS.  What an asinine stance.  Not that I would expect any different coming from you....

the FACT IS.... they have been orchestrated and paid to make this trek.   And no, not all of them 'just want jobs'.  They've been promised much, much more than that by the radical leftists, like Soros.  And you damned well know it, but aren't honest enough to admit it.

It's being proven that a lot of those homeless, at least in LA are fully productive citizens, some work more than one job and live out of their car.

Too bad, seems we have an "American 2nd" proponent here.

And those "migrants" coming here, some, not all, are trafficking opioids, sex trafficking, some are even running from the law in Mexico.  Some are like the one that killed Mollie Tibbets for example.

It's quite different than the hard working migrant of the '60s really.

I for one am sick and tired of hearing about the poor illegals.  B.S.  B.S.  B.S.  Try trying to tell that to a family who has a loved one who has fallen victim to the hands of an illegal; a family member who was killed, raped, beaten, kidnapped, etc.  Nope, don't feel a whole lot of sympathy.

What about the poor American citizen who is struggling to make ends meet and eventually their tax dollars will wind up going to support those invading our country??
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

SirLinks asked:
"What should we do if they are within a few miles of our borders?
Any wise solutions short of bombing them?"

How about water cannons and rubber bullets?

I would ask the Israelis about how they "manage" hordes of Palestinians, and listen very carefully to their replies.
