I don’t have the same doubts about this president that so many here have expressed. I feel like I’m putting my trust in a fellow patriot in the Oval Office. I trust Donald Trump to manage this situation as he has other things in office: with Americans foremost in mind and with a determination to succeed for the country and for the future.

God bless the rascal, I’m sure he’s got his legacy in mind, too. And that ain’t a bad ambition to have. To go down in history as a successful president of the United States and remembered as a man who did the best he could for his country.

It should be remembered that the memo being discussed is from April, and is not in response to this massive, cohesive caravan.  Whether National Guard or military troops will be subject to the same constraints if/when that caravan reaches our borders is something we don't yet know, and are unlikely to know until a confrontation actually happens.
