GAZA (Reuters) - Israeli jets struck targets in the Gaza Strip early on Wednesday after a rocket fired by militants in the coastal enclave struck a house in the major Israeli city of Beersheba, the Israeli military said.

A medical official told Israel Radio that three people were taken to hospital with injuries after the rocket struck the house. ...

They got a direct hit on a residential house, hopefully, none of those inside the house were seriously hurt, Israel may right now be conducting airstrikes on targets in Gaza. One report says it hit a house, no injuries: https://twitter.com/Jerusalem_Post

 The Wednesday morning rocket fire from Gaza was a major escalation, and the first time a rocket was fired at Beersheba since early August. Within hours of two large rockets being fired, Hamas and other Palestinian factions in Gaza had denied firing the rockets, pointing to a desire for continued calm.

This leaves many questions about what happened Wednesday morning and how the Palestinians in Gaza, Israel and the region will respond.
