Ohhh. I remember and spent many a post on those.

CW lasted 4 years in real life, but 20 years and counting at TOS;
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Frankly, while I support Trump, I think he shoots his mouth off too much.   I suspect while in Ohio he wanted to talk about Ulysses Grant, but he went on and on about Robert E. Lee.  I thought it was dribble, and he loses people when he talks endlessly about something other than what he can do for Americans today.  99% of Americans do not give a sh*t about Grant or Lee.  Ugggh!

Quite a few Americans know little or nothing about history.  Which is no reason for us to ignore it.

"Ancestor Virtue Signaling."

Guess what? British and Canadians today, are descended from those that fought in opposition to the Founding of the United States of America.

Would you hold those descendants in low regard, for the actions of that time, place, etc?

In my opinion,it is not differentfor a Southerner today to be proud,, than for a Canadian or Brit today to be proud.

For example, what about the descendants of those that fought against OUR Plains Indians, for decades?

Seems to bea fool's errand, to chase around signaling phoney virtue at eery instance.

The Anti-Mormons ar your fvorite old site, for a time, ranted on and on, about a massacre in Southern Utah over 100 years ago, suggesting every Mormon today should be diminished for it.

My mother was something of a family historian and a wonderful writer.  I don't consider it to be ancestor virtue signaling, (whatever that blah, blah, blah means) to enjoy reading family history.

Makes sense.  Didn't expect a real estate developing New Yawker to understand.

Well, it's NBC and other adherents of fake news who didn't understand.

He already used the double negative excuse with Putin.  He’ll have to go triple and say he didn’t not think Lee wasn’t a great general, now.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

I probably participated in a few dozen of those threads in the past 20 years.  Strangely, I only recognized about 3 posters from then.  Must be a whole new cast of characters now.

I don't hang out there anymore, even though some people are still obsessed by it.

The weird thing about TOS is there seem to be brand new screen names, ones I don’t recognize anyway, with sign up dates going back 10 & 20 years.

Got me thinking...all politics is local and all.

Wonder how many Southern families who owned slaves, approached it as a shifting business paradigm.
Like some Seattle mom and pop schmuck forced to pay $15. @hr to a staff that would work for half as much.

IOW...were there large percentage of freed slaves electing to stay as employees?  I would think middle-aged or seniors would.

I'm assuming here that the descriptions in novels of horse whippings for not meeting the corn quota did not occur in this 'town'.
Nobody was abused and the sick were tended to.

Just throwing it out....
