Rand Paul on political climate: 'I really worry that someone is going to be killed'

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said lawmakers should tamp down their political rhetoric, warning that otherwise it could lead to violence.

Paul, during an interview with a Kentucky radio station, said he was concerned that there "is going to be an assassination," after a few tense weeks around the Capitol because of the Supreme Court fight.

"I really worry that someone is going to be killed and that those who are ratcheting up the conversation ... they have to realize that they bear some responsibility if this elevates to violence," Paul said.

Paul recounted the June 2017 shooting at a practice session for the Congressional Baseball Game, where a gunman shot five people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.). The Kentucky Republican also recalled how his neighbor assaulted him late last year.

"These are people that are unstable. We don't want to encourage them,” he added. “We have to somehow ratchet it down and say we're not encouraging them that violence is ever OK.”

The political climate was heated during the Bammy administration and he took this country back decades as far as race relations are concerned.

The left went haywire after Hillary lost; the left reacts now by protests, violence, and threats. They are used to pushing and pushing until they get their way. If you are a leftists mental midget you are safe for the most part, but I think we all realize that if you are a conservative, Republican or constitutionalist (especially white) you have a target on your back.

Rand was attacked, Cruz was heckled out of a restaurant and Scalise was shot at.

The left has been allowed to get away with their acts of violence, threats, insults and overreach of power. 

Finally, of all people, Graham finally openly took a stand and called out the left for the despicable a**holes that they are.

It does need to stop, but IMHO as long as we have a corrupt DOJ and FBI it will continue.  As long as we continue to have those in leadership positions who are not held accountable or responsible, this will continue.

They long to be seen as conscientious citizens, wrapping themselves in a flag of righteous indignation, when, truth be told, they are nothing more than civic reprobates.

If there’s anything redeeming about the outrageous behavior and reprehensible antics we’ve just borne witness to, it’s the begrudging acknowledgment this is the price the rest of us must pay for speech that is truly free.

But that’s not the way these anarchists see it. Any speech that doesn’t conform to their notion of how things ought to be is so unworthy of consideration that it must be shouted down, and anyone having the temerity to hold differing opinions must be confronted in restaurants or accosted on elevators.
