Yep, and Yahoo is just as bad. The problem is that searches have become so difficult with either of those search engines. It's hard to get a simple, informative answer. I asked 'how much caffeine is in an 8 oz cup of coffee' and it was pages and pages of coffee ads. I finally asked Alexa and she told me immediately.
I have been on Yahoo since the beginning, dang near... When it was USA1.com... Was a total Yahoo freak back in the day, when it was good, with mail and messenger... Made my bones in html writing pages for friends on Yahoo's free webpages (can't remember what that service was called).
Still a bitter clinger, it being the lesser of three evils... though I have come to hate em more than love em.
But my distaste is deeper than yours. For all that they claim to customize to fit the user, they sure as hell don't (none of them). I am as self-evidently a conservative redneck as there can be, but am I served up country music, nascar, and farm news? Ads for hunting and camping gear, guns, and automotive performance? Nope. Hip-hop and Hollywood, everywhere you go. Friggin ads for crap I will never use and have no interest in. Give me a news page, and I will wander around on it for 10 minutes and not find a single dang thing of interest.
