Ryan Pleads With Trump: Talk Up Economy, Not Immigration Issue

House Speaker Paul Ryan pleaded unsuccessfully with President Donald Trump to shift his message in the final hours before Tuesday's midterm election to the economy from immigration, Politico reports.

Ryan's request came in a phone call with Trump on Sunday, Politico says.

Ryan and others in the GOP are concerned that Trump's single-minded focus on immigration will help the Democrats and hurt Republicans, all but ensuring a blue wave in the House and Senate.

While Republicans were initially supportive of Trump's focus, now they are concerned that some aspects of his push, including a vow to end birthright citizenship by executive order, an issue that fired up the conservative base, is backfiring.

Now why would Ryan plead with Trump in this way, when the illegal immigration issue resonates so well with middle class females, whom Trump badly needs to turn out tomorrow?

The GOP is on the brink of losing their majority in the House, led by Paul Ryan, so why in the world would Trump listen to that azzhole??  If the GOP loses their majority it definitely isn't going to be because of Pres. Trump!

The economy is going gang busters, creating jobs, boosting incomes, lifting communities.

So let me ask, has anyone ever known Trump to be humble? To downplay his successes? What the heck is Ryan talking about?

Trump talks up the great job he and republicans are doing with the economy and taxes, defense and immigration and all of it, all of the time and everywhere he can, at rallies, in tweets, at press conferences.

What an stupid thing for the Ryan to say?

Paul Ryan's an ass.  The President talks about the economy as a separate issue in all his rallies.  It's the first issue he brings up.  And he weaves it through all the others.

Ryan just hates that talking about the invasion and the need for true immigration reform and the WALL ...are winning issues, too.

I can't until Ryan's sitting at the anchor desk at CNN so he'll be seen and heard by tens.

From the beginning Ryan was half-hearted in support of a conservaive agenda.

I really liked Ryan at one time. He was spot on about the need to reform entitlements and fought obamacare as best he could. However, he failed to see how Trump caught fire with the American people and worse failed his president in moving his agenda forward in a quick and decisive manner.

He's done. He had his day in the sun. He should just go back to WI. and be quiet.

 Trump's not running, but I would totally agree with Ryan for those running congressional races. Don't see them mentioning the economy in their ads.
