Breaking story.

NBC is reporting 20 dead in Albany,NY. Fox and Sky are saying 20 plus.

Breaking story, but some details are here. Involved a wedding party.

Prayers up for these poor folks. I see it is being reported in the NY Times too. It's taken awhile to filter through to the news media. Absolutely horrible.

The only update says they havenâ€™t been able to identify victims, they need dental records, etc.

Article said jaws of life needed to get people out. I hope it wasnâ€™t the bride and groom.

It is not clear how many of the victims were in the vehicles that crashed at the intersections of Route 30 and Route 30A and how many were bystanders. The Apple Barrel's parking lot was filled with people and parked cars at the time of the crash.

The NTSB investigators are expected to be in the area for days and then will sort through evidence and interviews to determine what caused the crash.

State Police will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Sunday to provide more details.

It appears that at least two vehicles - including an SUV-style stretch limousine - were involved in the crash. It was unclear if the impact killed pedestrians, passengers or both.

Bob has experience with stretch limos as he helped his father who had a funeral home. He has driven regular limos and the stretch ones and says the stretch part does not have enough metal support and a crash will make the back doors in the stretch part move and be hard to open due to that reason. The other problem is regular limos and stretch ones should not be driven at fast speeds - it is a slower vehicle and 60 miles an hour is too fast to be able to control it well.

And, apparently that was a known dangerous stretch of road. Very sad.

More info from Bob: The safest seats are in the very back of the limo and the seats directly behind the driver. The other seats are not built as strong as these. These behind the driver are pointed toward the back so they can be in the party that goes on. If this is a party time, he also says people in limos tend to not use seat belts - everyone is on a high and it's party time so they don't use their seat belts.

So more details will come out - but, how can the parents of all these 18 people bear learning their child/children is/are dead? They were at a wedding, love abounding everywhere, and now they are dead. When someone dies, that is it, nothing can be done. One can't go back in time and change what happened, can't change the speed of the limo - it is final. Oh, to go back and change something so they are alive - it is final, they are dead. It is too much to bear.

It sounds like something from a telenovela, I have this horrible thought the bridal party was injured or dead.....and I just want to weep for them and the families

My parents taught me the Golden Rule and I pretty much try to practice it. Care for your friends and neighbors, etc. I try to pay it forward to people, and believe that people are basically good.
