Do any of these sources claiming blue tsunamis bother explaining just what reasons average democrats have for rushing to the polls to vote against republicans in Nov are? Have they suddenly noticed the presidents style? Do they hate a booming economy? Do they want to see ICE eliminated and illegal families reunited?
What is it that has made them so determined to want Nancy Pelosi back?
Increasingly, America is divided not only politically but geographically, as Republicans slowly flee urban coastal metropolitan areas for places where they might live among those who share their values. Also, nearly universal access to the internet via a multiplicity of devices has allowed people to self-select their sources of news and information.
As a consequence, Progressives have little occasion to know or hear from people with differing views and opinions. This, in turn results in a hardening of attitudes and political polarization via the process of confirmation bias.
I would argue that this same process is happening to conservatives and moral traditionalists, albeit on a lesser scale, due to the fact that conservatism is not as much an ideology as it is a philosophy, which allows its followers to allow for and accept differences of opinion on a broader range of issues.
On the other hand, post-modern Progressivism is in essence a secular faith, with all of the attendant commandments and catechisms that arise more from belief than from reason.
Either way, the blue and red shades that define 21st century America are slowly becoming more vivid and less pastel.
