Senate Democrat after reading FBI Kavanaugh report: 'I've never been so appalled at this institution'

Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, was visibly troubled after reviewing the FBI report on sexual allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday, calling the investigation a "joke."

"I love the Senate, and I’ve never been so appalled at this institution," Schatz told reporters moments after leaving the secured room where the single copy of the report is being held.

Republicans have said there is no corroborating evidence to support Christine Blasey Ford, who alleges Kavanaugh assaulted her while they were in high school. Schatz pushed back.

"All of our worst fears about this being incomplete in the extreme have been justified," Schatz said. "If you don't interview people, provided by counsel for the accusers, who say they can corroborate and then you say our interview process provided no corroboration, it's a joke."

"It's like you lose your keys in your apartment, and you only look on the bathroom floor, and you decide your keys are gone," Schatz added.

The normally upbeat Schatz expressed great frustration with the report and the state of the upper chamber.

"All I will say is that this institution is at a low ebb," said Schatz.

The Democrats are angry that the FBI didn't interview the hearsay witnesses Ford told about the alleged incident 30 years after the fact.

I get you're passionate.  You need to focus that passion 'cause that is a laughable rant.  Chappaquiddick happened in 1969.  Kennedy died 9 years ago. Schatz took office post Christmas of 2012.  You're pulling condemnations out of your ass, Sir.  You can say what you want about Schatz.  I'm sure he voted for lots a crappy stuff like the crazy spending budget bills since Trump took office, but if you're making stuff up, you might as well say he paid off porn-stars, sexually harassed his staff, peeped in the dressing-rooms of naked minor beauty pageant girls, and cheated on 3 wives.  I've been impressed by your arguments, my friend, but not this thread.

Whatever. Maybe my logic was a little flawed with the Kennedy thing, but there plenty to be appalled at from the Democrat side. This is pure procedure, and this man has been unfairly smeared, period.

And I supposed you expect me to defend Trump? I've never been a huge Trump guy, I get it from both sides here, but I don't care. I come here to get it out of my system.

Well, it's perfectly fine for America to exploit a dot island like Puerto Rico or Oahu, but it should not be funded like a state.
