Although I liked hearing this I am not sure it was a good idea right before the vote...

It was EXACTLY what is needed in order to cut through the smothering coverage of the left stream media.

Bush just sat there and took it.

And we got eight years of Obama as a result.

Seems to have worked so far for Trump.  There's a method to the madness.

Exactly!  There are really only 100 voters who really matter here -- the ones in the Senate who vote to confirm Kavanaugh.  Of those, it seems as though all but about 3 or 4 have made up their minds.  So the key question in my mind becomes did Trump's childish, mocking comments help sway Collins, Murkowski, Manchin, and Flake his way or not?  Based on their public comments, his mocking probably wasn't helpful in getting them to "Aye", and if Kavanaugh isn't confirmed, I have no doubt many of his supporters will try and paint Trump somehow as a victim.   *****rollingeyes*****

Seems to have worked so far for Trump.  There's a method to the madness.

The left is in the process of destroying a legal system based upon 600 years of english common and statutory law. Even the Romans believed the burden of proof rested with the accuser.

And we're worried about not Trump's assertions, but the tone of his voice. Good grief.

For those who say this isn't a civil trial, bullsh*t. The toxic principles established here will infect the legal system.

And furthermore, the best thing about Trump is that he pulls off all the masks and truly shows where people stand.

Well said, @Concerned    There is a precise objective here - to get Judge Kavanaugh confirmed.   How can his disciples here say with a straight face that Trump's red meat remarks are helping to persuade Collins, Murky, Manchin  and Flake?

And Murkowski, Heitkamp, Flake, Manchin, Collins, all look like known commodities to me. They all look like they are nos unfortunately so perhaps, if Lindsay Graham is right, Kavanaugh should be renominated.

I'd think what those 5 need is a kick in the pants so to speak, not caving in and trying to be nice and persuasive. No Way!

OH, and perhaps Claire McCaskill (sp?) is borderline too, so really, that adds up to about 6... I guess, they assume she's a no vote but polls show her trailing her opponent in Missouri, Josh Hawley by 2 points.

At the moment, McCaskill looks like a no vote..... new poll.... more elsewhere.

They can't.   Considering that the usual suspect RINOs are just looking for a handy excuse to vote against Kav, giving them one based on a perceived "unfair portrayal" of Ford isn't very bright.  That said, I have to agree with the content of what Trump said....lol.  (weird world/reality these days)

Yes, @Right_in_Virginia, the President deserves credit for the course of the last year and a half,  but he is, as I've said time and again, his own worst enemy.

And I'm going to say it as I've said it time and again, you have no idea what the hell you're talking about.  Had the country followed your strategic thinking and focus on manners, there would be a second President Clinton in the WH.

If it helps you feel better, remember this:  The President is not speaking TO you, he's speaking AROUND you ---  to others.

I might point out that Senators Collins and Murkowski appear to have quite a bit in common with our friend @Jazzhead .  Perhaps he should be speaking to them rather than around them at this point.  At least until after Kavanaugh is confirmed.

Did they also criticize Ford for lying under oath?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

Actually @Polly Ticks twitter is alive with the newest update/rumor:  Collins & Murkowski are sticking together and their vote is "Yea".

Good.   And, that will increase the chances that Flake will vote the right way too.

Another way of looking at matters now:

1. One way (Judge K, or another Amy Barret) we get another conservative.

2. Looking to the election,, some feel should the Senate fail to confirm Judge K, it will contribute to a red wave.

That is win, either way. Trump likes to frame issues and tactics thusly.

OTOH we have the Flake method; fail so much you have to drop out, with a reputation for weakness, compromise, losing.

How, exactly, is that a win for Kavanaugh and/or his family?

I never suggested that Trump fans were stupid.   I suggested Trump himself was stupid for his blindered emphasis on throwing red meat to his base,  when it is more traditional Republicans and independents that need to be persuaded.
