US President Donald Trump has attacked the Iranian leadership, accusing it of sowing "chaos, death and destruction" across the Middle East.

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he defended his decision to abandon the nuclear deal.

Mr Trump also boasted that his administration had accomplished "more than almost any" other in US history.

Thanks edpc.  I think that was ridiculously over the top in expectations, but that is what they said.

They just needed to make a noticeable dent.  Going to zero seems to be more hyperbole that I'm tired of hearing.

Yes, it is an absurd thing to state as policy.  The only way to really do that is through a complete blockade and/or attacking pipelines. Those would be acts of war.

And there goes 1/2 of Iran's buddy China's desperation for oil.

Sanctions and a possible blockade of the now imploded Venezuela could cut off the other half.

Iran, China, and North Korea.

Of course it can be done.  The problem is a blockade is an internationally and universally recognized act of war.   We have not fully extricated ourselves from conflicts that are over a decade old, we are deeply in debt, and the economy is making its way back from terrible recession. Probably not the best time to start turning over rocks.  These things never go as planned.
