Gen. Sherman and the Reporters.

It has already been stated, in our dispatches from Port Royal, that Gen. SHERMAN had issued an order directing all newspaper reporters to leave that department of the army, as their presence was found to be injurious to the service. Such a circular was sent to the reporters on the 15th of December, in the following terms:

To the Gentlemen of the Press at Port Royal, and within the limits of the Expeditionary Corps:

It becomes my serious duty to say to you, gentlemen, that the presence of the reporters of the public Press has become productive of serious injury to our cause, by conveying indirectly, but quite promptly to the enemy, information of the least movement that is made, if not a pretty correct idea of our plans.
