Tofu BBQ may be closer than we think.

Ted Cruz was only joking when he suggested over the weekend that his opponent, Democrat Beto O'Rourke, could mandate Texas barbecue serve tofu BBQ, but one aspiring vegan chef on Twitter brought the nightmare to life Monday night, tweeting a photo of his latest masterpiece: the "vegan brisket."

Kevin Biegel, who is a writer for TV shows like "Cougartown" and "Scrubs," unveiled his Franken-brisket to the masses — and the masses weren't very happy about it.
