Berlin Hospital Says 'Highly Plausible' That Russian Activist Was Poisoned

German doctors at the Berlin hospital where Russian activist Pyotr Verzilov is being treated say he was likely poisoned.

"The impression and the findings that we now have, as well as those provided by colleagues from Moscow, suggest that it was highly plausible that it was a case of poisoning," Kai-Uwe Eckardt, a doctor at the Charite hospital in Berlin, told a news conference on September 18.

His colleague, Dr. Karl Max Einhaeupl, added that there was no other explanation so far as to why Verzilov was in such a condition and that there was no evidence Verzilov was suffering from a long-term illness.
