From that link I posted, it's a Senate rule a week's advanced notice must be given for hearings before a committee. Because of Traitor Flake, the vote Thursday would have failed. The Rats peeled off one scum-sucking Senator.
Thanks for posting that -- I wasn't aware of it and it explains why Grassley did what he did.
Still, Monday isn't bad at all because it still gives time for a confirmation vote by the full Senate before the new term begins the following Monday. For those claiming this will give the Democrats more time to find other crap...they've already known for months they were going to do this, and there's nothing they can do in these last 5 days that they couldn't have done during those months.
The truth is that for those complaining about Flake -- the system is actually working. He's not running for re-election because GOP voters rebelled against him and would have kicked him out. That's what's
supposed to happen to a guy like that.
Let's see how this all plays out before chalking this up as win for the Democrats. I don't think this is going to end up playing well except among those who already hated Kavanaugh and wanted him defeated. If he presents well -- which I think is pretty much a given -- the politics of this should backfire against the Dems.
